Can I Insure an Older Park Home?

Can I insure an older park home is a question we are often asked, and we are very pleased to answer with a resounding yes! If you own a park home that’s more than 30 years old, you may have found it difficult to get the right insurance cover. Many insurers place restrictions on older homes or refuse to provide cover at all, which can leave owners feeling uncertain about their options. At Park Home Assist, we’re committed to supporting park home owners whatever the age of their property, and we remain one of the few insurers in the UK to offer specialist cover for older park home homes.

In this article, we’ll explain why you may be asked for photographs of your home, how to send them to us, and what this means for your policy renewal. Most importantly, we’ll show you how straightforward the process is so you can continue to enjoy peace of mind knowing that your home is protected.

Why do insurers ask for photos of older park homes?

As homes age, insurers like to have an accurate record of their condition. This isn’t about making things difficult for you — it’s about protecting both you and the insurer by ensuring that your home is properly assessed. At Park Home Assist, if you’re insuring a park home that is more than 30 years old, you’ll need to supply us with some photographs.

By keeping an up-to-date record, we can continue to offer competitive insurance for older, well-maintained park homes. Unlike some companies who simply withdraw cover for older properties, we go the extra mile to make sure you can continue to access the protection you need.

What photos do you need?

We only need three simple photographs of the outside of your park home:

  • One from the front
  • One from the side
  • One from the back

These should show the whole home, including the roof and skirting, so that we have a clear and accurate representation. Don’t worry — you don’t need to be a professional photographer. Photos taken on a phone or digital camera are absolutely fine.

How can I send my photos?

We’ve made it as easy as possible by giving you five different ways to provide your photos. Simply choose whichever option suits you best:

  1. Upload via our website
When requesting a quote, buying or renewing your park home insurance online, you can upload photos directly from your phone, tablet, or computer.

If you’re an existing customer and have been asked to send us some photos, you can go to www.parkhomeassist.co.uk/photos and upload them directly.

  1. Send by email
Email your pictures to photos@parkhomeassist.co.uk. Please remember to include your policy reference number in the message so we can match the photos to your policy.
  2. Send by SMS or WhatsApp
Text or WhatsApp your photos to 07720 162 654. Again, don’t forget to include your policy reference number.
  3. Post printed photos
If you have up-to-date printed photos to send us, you can post them to Park Home Assist Insurance Services Limited, Royal House, Queenswood, Newport Pagnell Road West, Northampton NN4 7JJ.
Please write your policy reference number clearly on the back of the photos.

When do you need the photos?

Ideally, we ask existing customers for photos at least 90 days before your policy renewal date. This gives us time to complete any administration required and ensures there’s no disruption to your cover. If you’re a little late, don’t worry — there is some flexibility.

Will this affect my current or future policy?

Your current policy is not affected. However, If you’re an existing customer of Park Home Assist and we’re unable to obtain photographs of your park home, we cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to offer renewal terms.

If we do have the photos, then we expect to be able to offer renewal terms as usual, so that you can continue your park home insurance cover with Park Home Assist. Because we understand that well-maintained homes are a good risk regardless of their age, we want to continue insuring as many older park homes as possible.

How often do I need to send photos?

This isn’t something you’ll need to do every year. Once we have up-to-date photos, they’ll only need to be updated every five years.
