Flood Cover for Park Home Owners
Flood cover is becoming increasingly important, especially for park home owners in some areas of the country. In recent years, news of extensive damage to homes from storms, heavy rainfall and burst river banks has reminded us all that floods are a very real danger. This is especially true for the thousands of homes that are deemed to be at a risk of flooding due to local geography and other factors.
When insuring your park home’s buildings and contents with Park Home Assist, flood cover is usually included as standard. It includes a new for old policy and covers you for a total loss of your home including clearance and installation. It also includes alternative accommodation should it prove necessary. With damage caused by flooding sometimes being so extensive, it is good to have the peace of mind to know that you are in good hands and you can confidently make a claim should the worst happen.
Experience in handling flood insurance claims
With Park Home Assist, you have an experienced multi-award-winning team on your side. In our sixteen years of providing insurance for park home owners, we have worked to help many people who have suffered the sometimes devastating cost of flood damage. So, we understand the importance of you being able to get flood cover and to deal with someone who knows your circumstances.
Has your park home flooded before?
If your park home has flooded before or is in an area that is at risk of flooding, you may have experienced difficulty finding any insurance cover or cover at a reasonable price. We offer affordable flood insurance cover to people whose homes are in a flood risk area through the Flood Re scheme, as long as they meet the scheme’s conditions.
The Flood Re scheme
Flood Re is a reinsurance scheme that allows insurers to offer affordable cover for those living in an area at risk of flooding or who have experienced flooding before. If your park home is in an area with a risk of flooding, a Flood Re participating insurer is covered by the scheme for taking on the risk of your home.
At Park Home Assist, we work with our insurers Canopius, (one of the largest Lloyd’s of London underwriters) who, with other insurers, pay a levy into the Flood Re scheme. This allows them to cover the higher risk without restrictive premiums. When you make a claim to us, we apply on your behalf to the Flood Re scheme. Then any successful claim is paid to us out of the fund collected through the levy from participating insurers.
Precise property mapping
Additionally, our insurer has invested in flood mapping software tools that can identify the level of flood risk of your home to the individual property location. So, your policy and level of premium is worked out in a bespoke way. This means you can be confident that you are paying a precisely worked-out sum based on your property.
Your premiums will be worked out on an individual basis and of course can be affected by the precise level of risk. You can be assured though, that you are paying according to an accurate assessment of your home alone, not a general, ‘averaged out’ view of your postcode or area.
Having buildings and contents insurance, but with no flood cover, is a high-risk strategy. With our membership of the Flood Re scheme, the situation is significantly changed for the better. So even if you have been flooded before or you live in a flood risk property, getting yourself covered is simple and easy. Don’t hesitate to contact us should you need further information and for a quote.
