Holiday Lodge Insurance – The Essentials

 When you are looking to take out holiday lodge insurance, you might want to consider some or all of the issues we touch on in this article. Holiday lodge insurance is a specialist area so do make sure that you have the best cover to suit your needs.

  1. Coverage

The first thing you might want to consider is that you are getting a comprehensive cover for all the specific risks involved in holiday lodge ownership. This will include standard coverage for natural disasters and theft and may also include cover from liability claims from visitors and from damage that occurs when visitors are in residence.

If you rent out your lodge to holidaymakers, ensure that the policy includes public liability insurance, which may cover any claims made against you by visitors who suffer an injury or loss, while staying in your lodge. You may also want to ensure that you are covered for loss of use and loss of hiring fees, something which specifically applies to holiday lodges and is included in our holiday lodge insurance cover as standard.

  1. Buildings and contents

You might want to check first that both your building and contents are covered. Our cover includes buildings insurance and all contents (except for clothes and bed-linen) and you will also receive freezer contents cover too as standard with Park Home Assist.   1. Affordability

As well as the level of premium you will need to pay, it is a good idea to check the excess you may have to pay to make sure you can afford it, should you need to make a claim. Ensure that the policy covers the full replacement value of your lodge and its contents, rather than just the market value. Our buildings cover includes a holiday lodge replacement value up to £500,000. Site clearance, transportation and re-siting of a replacement home as standard is also something you may want to look out for. Also, check whether outbuildings and garden furniture are included as standard in your cover.

  1. Location

If your holiday lodge is situated in a high-risk area that is prone to flooding, you may want to check that you can get flood protection cover.
